Tips on Taking Care of Flash/Thumb Drives

Here is another handy tip that everyone who keeps a flash or thumb drive. It can be one very useful tool as you go around your business. You get to keep your files in compact flash cards and you can go around wherever. So handy. But the thing is a lot of people take for granted how they use it. We actually hardly take care of it. A couple of times I have seen my husband’s compact flash cards getting washed clean, tumbling freely in the washer. He got lucky because he did not lose his data.

It is always a good idea to replace the cap of the flash drive if it is not in use. They might be durable all right, but they are not indestructible. So as true as the price of flash drives going down, it is the data that it carries that is important. Unless of course, you just keep rubbish stuff in and don’t mind losing them all.

Another basic thing is when you are done with it and want to take it off your computer’s usb port, safely remove it by clicking the icon on the lower right screen. The prompt to click will be “safely remove hardware” and choose the drive where the flash drive is in.
