How do you know when it is time to sharpen the blades of your lawn mower? It is not easy to know, especially if you think that it is functioning all right. A good indicator will be those grass tips turning white after you have brushed through them with your lawn mower.
Lawn mowers that have rotary blades should be honed on a monthly basis, while the reel types should be honed annually. This is also something to consider if you would rather have the low maintenance type, then the reel one is for you. If you do not mind maintaing on a monthly basis, then the former will do.
