Tips on Fuel Economy

It is crazy how the fuel price goes down just to have it hike up twice, before you know it. It helps to know what things we could still do from our end to be able to maximize fuel consumption and learn some things our fuel provider would otherwise not have us know.

A lot of times motorists choose premium gasoline because of the belief that it will provide more power. The truth of the matter is, unless your engine is high performance and turbo charged, there will hardly be any benefit. Even those with Auto Allowance should think twice. Make sure you do not top off a fuel tank when the weather is extremely hot. Chances are, the heat will increase the pressure in a tank and it will cause the fuel to rise and overflow, which will just result to wastage.

If by chance you suspect that your fuel goes down faster than it should, check for leaks. You can never be too sure. If the problem persist despite the fact that there is no leak, have the filter replaced in the base of the evaporative emissions canister. Canisters should be replaced after every 30,000 miles. This part has a tendency to clog.
