Tips on Wills

Do you know that it is not necessary to be rich to need a will?  It assures you that whatever property you have will go to the people you want to have it.  Only in a will you are also able to appoint a guardian for your children, if any case that anything happens to you.

Keep in mind that you need a lawyer to constitute your will as a valid document.  If it will be a simple will, a legal clinic will suffice.

Moving Tips

After having moved houses for at least five times in a span of five years, one thing that is for sure, it is a lot of work.

But there are a few things that we can do to ease the stress of moving houses. First thing to remember is that planning ahead always helps. Available help like Boston Moving Company can actually do the job for you. A great deal of work could be unburdened by them but you also have to keep in mind that there are important documents that you have to pack yourself, even personal items that are rather sentimental, that you would not have a stranger pack for you. Moving companies can actually do the packing for you, but you can save money by packing things yourselves.

If you have children, make sure to condition their minds on the upcoming move. A partnership is always good for them to look into it. This will have them pack their own toys and personal effects, without you nudging them to.

Another thing to make sure that you do is label boxes, so unpacking will be easier upon settling in. If necessary, place the “this side up” stickers on their respective boxes. This applies for fragile items.

As stressful as moving houses can be, it can still be treated with a positive attitude by lessening the possible causes of conflict beforehand.

Tips on Lawn Mowing

How do you know when it is time to sharpen the blades of your lawn mower?  It is not easy to know, especially if you think that it is functioning all right. A good indicator will be those grass tips turning white after you have brushed through them with your lawn mower.

Lawn mowers that have rotary blades should be honed on a monthly basis, while the reel types should be honed annually. This is also something to consider if you would rather have the low maintenance type, then the reel one is for you.  If you do not mind maintaing on a monthly basis, then the former will do.

Tips on Fuel Economy

It is crazy how the fuel price goes down just to have it hike up twice, before you know it. It helps to know what things we could still do from our end to be able to maximize fuel consumption and learn some things our fuel provider would otherwise not have us know.

A lot of times motorists choose premium gasoline because of the belief that it will provide more power. The truth of the matter is, unless your engine is high performance and turbo charged, there will hardly be any benefit. Even those with Auto Allowance should think twice. Make sure you do not top off a fuel tank when the weather is extremely hot. Chances are, the heat will increase the pressure in a tank and it will cause the fuel to rise and overflow, which will just result to wastage.

If by chance you suspect that your fuel goes down faster than it should, check for leaks. You can never be too sure. If the problem persist despite the fact that there is no leak, have the filter replaced in the base of the evaporative emissions canister. Canisters should be replaced after every 30,000 miles. This part has a tendency to clog.

Cleaning Greasy Fridge Tops

How do you easily clean sticky and greasy dust on the top of your fridge?  This problem is usually solved by a heavy duty all purpose cleaner or a solution that is a part ammonia to ten parts of water.   Do this if your trusty vinegar and baking soda won't do the trick.  Wipe the dirt off with paper towels.

Usually this will solve your problem.  Just make sure to apply furniture wax on the surface of the fridge to make cleaning easier the next time.

How to Prolong the Life of Contact Lens

For those who choose to wear contact lenses rather than a good ‘ol pair of eyeglasses, it is true that maintaining the former than the latter can be more of a challenge. There is always this issue of extending the life your lenses. Since lenses tend to be pricier, it is better to maximize its potential.

Make sure that your hands are thoroughly washed with water and soap before ever getting in contact with your lenses or even before you wear them. It can be a real challenge at first because you have to make sure you do not have anything stick to your contact lenses, otherwise you will have to endure blurred vision throughout the wearing of your pair, unless of course you go over the tedious task of taking them both out, cleaning them and wear them over again.

Most contact lenses provide a container where you can store them in fresh solution. Some lenses even require special care, so make sure you check with your manufacturer’s instruction.  Spectacles are easier to clean, hands down. You might want to check with Visions King and pick out a good pair. Having an alternative pair of eyeglasses is also wise for contact lenses wearer, to rest your eyes from the stress that contact lenses tend to give your eyes.

Make sure you don’t get your solution near any surface, even your fingers, to make sure you do not contaminate it with bacteria. If all the said tips are followed, you raise the possibility of wearing your contact lenses longer than you are expected to.

Academic Tips

School year is almost over in this side of the world. It is a major celebration for most young people. Towards the end of the previous months most of them are cramming and really working hard to finalizing all academic requirements: from literature essay writing, to theses and even completion for non-academic subjects. I remember how taxing a student’s life is.

It will be good for these students to note, even as the school year comes to a close that it always helps to be ready for the next school year. Anticipating what their subjects are, even asking tips from those who are in the higher level, may prove to be beneficial. Some even buy an essay paper help to assist them.

Students are going to have a couple of weeks to a month long vacation - a moment of celebration and to unwind. We know of some who are recent graduates and will tread a brand new chapter of job hunting. Make the most of every chill out day and recharge. Make sure to keep documents that you need for this year intact. It always helps to be organized, so that when you need it, all you need to do is get that one folder or envelope and off to the next enrolment for the following school year.

Some Holiday Travel Tips

Half of the population here in this side of the world is currently cooking up their holiday getaway, if not done with their respective plans. As for our family and me, we are towards finalizing our accommodation arrangements. It is easier to have things covered even before we get there. It will definitely make things easier when we get to our destination.

Incidentally, if you happen to be traveling to New York, you might want to check out car service jfk, for the most reliable but affordable ground transportation. New York can be a challenge to tread, whether you are there for business or pleasure. It always helps to make sure you have gotten hold of this kind of service prior to travel so as to get this problem out of the way and make the most of the time that you have for travelling, business or otherwise.

Travel preparation also consists of learning to pack light. It may take some time to adjust, grand to light packing does not happen overnight. It starts with a mindset. For one, I have often travelled and came back with the same unused pieces of clothing that I could just have left behind. Never mind the thought of what if you will need it. Most often than not, you won’t. Enjoy the holidays by planning your travels wisely!

How to Clean Baby Strollers

One of the baby things that can be a challenge to clean is the stroller. Whether it is a Bob stroller or the umbrella type, you should clean it the proper way so as not to mess up with the material that stroller is made of.

The first thing to do is find a place where you can clean your stroller. The garage can be an ideal place. Take out all baby things and toys from the pockets of the stroller. Have the stroller in its standing position, unfolded. Hand vacuum every single side, making sure every particle that can be in between will come off. If the stroller’s seat is the one that comes off, then take it off. Wash the material with cold water to make sure it does not shrink. Use damp cloth for those that cannot come off. Scrub the snack tray clean. Let the stroller dry and make sure all toys are cleaned with soap and water before putting them all back to the stroller.

Your baby’s stroller is now fresh and clean.

Removing Stains from China

Sometimes there are stubborn black marks on china.  They are probably a result of metal utensils rubbing against the china.  Your best bet will be to keep china separate from metal items in the drawer.  If at all, use secure liht weight aluminum pans between hevier one so that they don't hit each other.

Try using another brand of detergent and use the sponge.  Immerse the stained plate in a bowl of water with 2 cups of white vinegar.  Let it stand for a couple of hours.  Wash and rinse all over again.

Heart Health Tip

Eating has a handful of benefits to ones well being. The challenge usually is in starting to shift from a bad diet to a good one. Does it mean one has to drop eating meat and poutry altogether. Fact is a lot of people get really starved so easily, if meat is taken out of their daily diet. This is something that I have been struggling to influence my husband to. Since it is practically impossible for me to convert him to a vegetarian, the next best thing is choosing the better way to eat meat.

According the The American Heart Association, meat consumptions hould be no more than six ounces per day. Whether lean meat, poultry, fish or seafood. And if you should at all choose, fish is way healthier than meat. This is why Omega 3 health supplements recently abound in the market. People are actually more educated now when it comes to health. Studies have shown that regular consumption of oily fish containing imega-3 fatty acids can actually prolong one’s life.

Make sure to also read food labels and make it a habit. Taking note to choose those with more natural ingredients and leering away from artificial flavors and additives, if at all possible.

Health Tip: Moringa, Now Tapped as Super Vegetable

It is in the news today, Moringa or “Malunggay” in the vernacular was tapped by Malacanang to be a super vegetable. Thus, its potential to actually move the country against poverty and climate change. The vegetable farmers was asked by the government to help alleviate poverty and do a great deal in saving the environment because apparently Moringa can reduce the incidence of floods and lessen hunger and nutrition.

This tip is something really new to me. After having known of the goodness and benefits of Moringa from the time that I was struggling with breastfeeding some four years ago, I never knew it actually can be tagged as a super vegetable. I shouldn’t be at all surprised though.

The poor community can actually plant Moringa trees and never have to be malnourished at all. This vegetable is enough to nourish our bodies. I am going to have to research more on the benefits of this super vegetable.

A Tidy Accessory Place

Whether it's a closet a pull out drawer that you put your accessories in, it remains to be a challenge how to neatly put them in such a way that it will remain tidy for sometime before everything is in disarray again.

For one women's shoes, can be a real challenge.  You don't expect them to just disappear a tthe back of the closet ifyou store them in wire racks or shoe bags.    You actually might want to make your own simple stacking shelves just for your shoes.  Whatever you decide on, clear and see through storage is often a plus.

Smart Flexi Rate Calls

After having asked a few Smart subscribers, I found none that can answer my question on the cheap rate calls that they currently offer.  Smart has the Flexirate promotion that enables callers to call for as low as a peso per minute.  I have been a subscriber for a long time, but I don't make calls so much that I am not familiar with their ongoing promos.

Apparently, there are even rates for shorter calls.  Which means you only get charged for the actual calls that you make.  I am a practical person and I don't like having to spend for something than I have to.  Like if there is this promo for instance, why would I call the usual way, right? And it's easier on the pocket especially if you expect the call to be a rather lengthy one.

I was inquiring on Boracay accommodations, the provider, I suppose is in Boracay so I knew the conversation must be lengthy.  To register, type FLEXI and send it to 880. To call the other Smart subscriber, just dial *88 + 11 digit mobile number.  Easy! :-)

Maintaining the Entertainment Room

One of the more trickiest part of the room to clean is the entertainment room. One should make sure not to wipe the electrical outlets with damp sponge or cloth. Keeping in mind that damp sponging is only done on furnishings made of plastic and other furniture should be wiped with their corresponding cleaning aid.

Moving tv stand could also be a challenge. Make sure to support the legs with rugs to avoid scratches on the floor.

Thaw Frozen Pipes

Before you attempt to thaw pipes that were frozen from snow, make sure to shut off the main water valve. first.  Or else you might just be surprised with water gushing out the minute thawing is completed.

Taps should also be left turned on to reduce the pressure.  This lowers the risk of the pipes bursting.  Turn the taps off as soon as the pipes have thawed.

Porcelain Sink Care

How does one care for porcelain sinks? Is it anything different from the maintenance of farmhouse sinks? Porcelain sinks are easy to clean, but you just have to do it with much care that you do not use abrasive scrubs that might hurt the make.

Just fill the sink with lukewarm water, adding an ounce of chlorine bleach. Just leave it for an hour. For more stubborn stains, use paper towels that were soaked on bleach and leave the sink unused for ten straight hours, leaving the paper lined up where the stains are.

Keeping Drains Odor Free

To make your drains odor free, all you really have to do is run very hot tap water through it, every after use. Put half a cup of baking soda every week and follow it up with water. You will see all those bubbles and acid reaction and it does not just take care of odor but keep it free flowing as well. No more clog drains!

Second Hand vs. Brand New Mobiles

More and more people are buying second hand phones. It could be the global crisis, but then again, it could also be plain practicality. The thing with second hand phones, you have no guarantee to hold on to just in case the phone you bought has some problem here and there. This is why I have always bought brand new, unlocked phones. Truth is, you might think you are saving by buying the second hand mobile. But in the unfortunate event that it turns out that there will be a problem, you just might end up paying more.

This has worked for me. Atleast I always end up getting what I paid for. In instances that the mobile has to undergo service – then it is no extra cost for me. Except of course for the transportation cost going to the service center and all the hassle. But aside from that, there is nothing more to pay for – at least for one full year.
