Furniture Care Tip: Importance of taking care of your furniture

Outdoor furniture needs the same amount of care as indoor ones do. The kind of care might vary though, depending on the kind of material your furniture is made of. Furniture is an investment that we have to take care of. If we want them to last for a long time, that is.

Always ask tips from the store where you buy furniture. Regardless if it’s indoor or outdoor cushions, furniture skeleton or what not. The makers of the furniture knows how best to take care of their creations and we should make sure to take note of their instruction.

Home Entertainment Furnishings

Do you always unplug your TV, stero, VCR or home computer before cleaning them? If not, then you should start getting into the habit of doing so. Never use spray cleaners directly on electronics. This may cause damage to the wiring or even clog the ventilation on sound projecting holes. tv lifts are low maintenance, occasional wiping will do.

For plastic exteriors, you can use milk soap and warm water. Always well wrung cleaning cloths to prevent drips. Periodically dust woodveneer cabinets with a soft, clean and slightly damp cloths.

If you have metal cabinets or chrome shiny trims of home entertainment equipment, do not hesitate to use a soft cloth which is moistened with a bit of rubbing alcohol, white vinegar or window cleaner.

Piano Care

Use a dampened chamois to remove finger prints from pianos and other wood surfaces. Nothing looks better than a shiny, well kept furniture. Especially that of a piano, which occupies a major part of the house.

To whiten yellowed piano keys, rub them sith a soft cloth with a tiny amount of toothpaste mixed with salt and baking powder. Make sure not to get the paste in between the keys. Wipe off the paste and buff! :-)
