Tips on How to Produce More Breast Milk

Breast-feeding, as quoted, is the “the best possible way of meeting the infant’s nutritional needs.” At the same time, it offers a loving, intimate relationship between the child and the mother. Problems often arise when mommies need to go to work and has to pump their way to give enough milk for the baby or the supply is not enough because the infant takes so much. Here are a few tips that hopefully will help nursing mothers on how to product more breast milk.

It is a common misconception that milk production depends on the breast size. Moms who have a low milk supply are caused by hormonal imbalance and other factors such as the intake of alcohols or food and medicines that reduces the production of the breast milk. They are advised by doctors to take herbal supplements and foods such as asparagus, alfalfa, raspberry, etc. Others take oatmeal several times a day and drink hop tea and juice to help increase the milk production. For mommies who are using pumps, they are first instructed to relax so that their body will not hinder the process of releasing the milk. At the same time, experts say that you should nurse on a regular basis, even in pumping, so that your body will know and is conditioned that it has to generate milk.
