Choosing a career

It was a decade ago when majority of the students pursuing a college degree was going for health care jobs. The reason being was that the demand was very high, especially of overseas jobs. After a while, the market must have been saturated with graduates from such courses proven by a large percentage who are jobless. Then the fad went towards Information Technology. Now, a large percentage is pursuing IT and the good ones are sent abroad.

Although several things are factored in when choosing a career, it is also important to know what you are personally capable of. Your love for your career, in the long run, will spell out your success in it.

With the thousands of new graduates year after year, we cannot help but think if there are enough jobs that they could find especially during this time of recession. What do we do to have the odds work for us? Not much really. Just keep the basics in mind, like knowing what kind of job you are applying for and making a good impression during the job interview. Show interest towards the company and even ask one or two questions that tells of your interest on the company. 

It may also help to ask a friend who is in the same industry for personal tips, this might as well allow you to weigh the odds. Last but not the least is keep a positive outlook and open mind, if you don’t land this job, there will be something for you out there. Work on your interpersonal skills while you are not yet employed. This will get you ready for the workplace.

Creating a positive impression during an interview is necessary for you to be able to land that job that you want. Although you may be confident that you will ace the examination that might be handed out to you, impressions still weigh heavier.

One thing to make sure you do before showing up for the interview is to research about what the background of the company you are applying for. This is especially true if you are applying for jobs in sales.

As true as the global economic crisis is currently on, we still see a whole lots of job fairs everywhere. That is good, right? It means employers are still seeking employees, albeit new ones to fill in their requirements for lesser damage for their compensation. Wall St jobs have become scarce but still there.

The crisis might be here for a time, but life would still go on. Struggling to survive sounds sweeter than not struggling at all.
